Royal Enfield starts new assembly unit in Argentina. For the first time in the modern history of Royal Enfield, motorcycles will be manufactured outside the Chennai-based manufacturing company. Initially, the plant will assemble three motorcycle models locally — the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
It was established in collaboration with Grupo Simba, a local distributor of RE in Argentina. It is located in Campana, Buenos Aires. In March 2018, Royal Enfield began retail operations in Argentina, the one, of the largest mid-size motorcycle markets in Latin America.
Royal Enfield claims the company has five exclusive stores in Argentina, a total of 31 exclusive stores and 40 other retail touchpoints in Latin American countries.
Royal Enfield is currently the market leader in the Indian mid-size modern classic two-wheeler segment. With this assembling unit, the motorcycle manufacturer may be aiming for a significant share of the Latin American market.
