Husqvarna Motorcycles came to India with 250 cc versions of Svartpilen and vitpilen motorcycles. In fact, the Husqvarna was launched in India with a completely different design from other bikes. The Svartplen is a scrambler while the Vitpilen is designed in a cafe racer model.
By the end of this year, Husqvarna Motorcycles will be launching the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 in India. Husqvarna’s 401 twins will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant. These 401 twins from Husqvarna will share the engine and more as the 250 twins did with the KTM product.
Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 is powered by 373.2 cc liquid-cooled, DOHC engine from KTM Duke 390. Expected power, and torque may be same as the KTM Duke 390, 43.5 hp and 37 Nm.
It is expected that some changes will take place when the 401 motorcycles arrive in India. First of all it can be Spoke wheels will be replaced by alloys as they were in the 250s and it may get a pillion grab rail.
The price of these Husqvarnas 401 can be expected to be slightly lower than the KTM 390 Duke. The reason is that the Husqvarna 250 twins are less expensive than the KTM Duke 250. Similarly, there is a big price difference between the Bajaj Dominar 400 and the KTM 390 Duke. Therefore, we cannot rule out these possibilities.
